BIO:
Tywin Thane was born in the year 3977 BBY in a château on the border of Aldera on the planet Alderaan. Tywin’s family was relatively wealthy and had dealings in the Alderaanian political society. It was through these ties that his father, Celnin, became acquainted with the Jedi Master Rath Balmor. This happenstance meeting would begin Tywin’s journey through the Jedi Order and eventual Grandmastership.
Celnin admired the lifestyle of the Jedi half warrior, half monk. The romanticism of it all seemed distant from reality, but Celnin decided to take advantage of this opportunity and asked the Jedi Master to accept his family's hospitality during his stay on Alderaan.
The Thanes offered the Jedi every accommodation they could muster but it was the family’s newborn son Tywin that interested Master Balmor most of all. His connection to the Force was apparent to the Master so he spoke with Celnin and his wife Santora. He told the new parents that as a mixed blessing for the use of their home he offered to take their child with him to become a Jedi. Although hard to accept Celnin believed it would offer a more meaningful life than that of the pampered Alderaanian aristocracy could. So with joy and tears Tywin's parents said goodbye as their son left his short time home for the capital of the Galactic Republic.
The subsequent year the Mandalorian Wars began and the galaxy was plunged into conflict and uncertainty. Through the looming threat of galactic war Tywin endured rigorous and unyielding training at the tutelage of Master Rath Balmor. His Master was recognized as a daunting warrior in the Jedi Order, he had a soldier’s cognizance. And with it he realized that the Republic would eventually be drawn into the conflict with the Mandalorian clans as they ravaged the Outer Rim. It didn’t come until Tywin was 12 years old that the Republic and the Mandalorians began their great war for galactic possession. Tywin could hear other Jedi question their purpose as the “Guardians of the Galaxy,” his Master cautioned temperance to the young Knights, that warfare on this scale would break most Jedi. 2 years later one bold Jedi Knight defied the Order’s commands and led an assembly of Jedi into the fires of war. The Jedi Revan and his men clashed with Mandalorian steel for 3 hard years until the Battle of Malachor V when Revan in single combat slayed the Mandalorian’s greatest warlord Mandalore the Ultimate and both the Republic and Mandalorian Fleets were decimated.
In the year of the Jedi Revan and Alec’s hunt for remaining clans in the far regions of space Tywin Thane passed his Trials of Knighthood, and became a full-fledged Jedi Knight. But upon the mighty hero’s return from distant space the Republic greeted an even greater enemy in the Sith Lords Darth Revan and Darth Malak. Tywin and his Master discussed what the Order’s next steps should be against the Sith. Tywin felt the inkling of panic as his Master doubted the Order could resist the fury of Darth Revan and his immeasurable fleet. “This is not some mindless Dark Jedi, Tywin, instructed Rath Balmor, “This is a man who knows our strengths, our weaknesses, where and how to strike, and to top it all is one of the paramount military geniuses the galaxy has ever seen.”
But the Jedi are not easily defeated, after the fall of both Sith Lords and the redemption of Revan he disappeared into the Unknown Regions leaving the Republic in turmoil. Tywin felt that the Order could now begin to recuperate from the insecurity left after the Mandalorian and Jedi Civil War. But the darkness bred even greater gloom when the Sith Triumvirate struck decisively and scores upon scores of Jedi were killed from the shadows at the bidding of the three Sith Lords. It was a black night when Master Rath Balmor came to Tywin’s living quarters.
A shaken Jedi Master entered, “Tywin, pack your things we have to leave the Temple immediately.”
Ronin knew better than to question his Master seeing him in this state of which he did not think him capable of. But in truth he knew the reason for their departure, “The Temple will fall?” he said half questioning.
“The High Council has felt it as have I; we’re all to go into hiding as soon as possible. We will go to your family’s estate on Alderaan, posed as vagabonds to all but your family.” Rath stated heaving his own pack upon his shoulder. “Do not let this reunion cloud your better judgment of the Force.” His Master was looking deep into his eyes.
“I am a Jedi, Master.” Tywin affirmed with words devoid of emotion.
They departed the Temple with heavy hearts adorned in modest robes and caught the first shuttle to Alderaan. The reunion of a family went as it would be expected two proud, relieved, and teary eyed parents witnessed the man their child had become. Here in the unscathed splendor of Alderaan they lived for two years before they were finally traced down by Sith Assassins. The two Jedi meditated on their Order’s clouded future, unwilling to accept defeat in accordance with their warrior ethos. The sat in silence in the gardens of the Thane Estate, until they were brought to attention by the dark presence that had polluted their serenity. In full view were four robed entities and in a flash the two Jedi set upon them. His Master unleashed a wave of energy causing two to stumble while the others soared over top. Tywin with his already ignited azure blade in hand parried two of the crimson blades simultaneously and with a spin he circled behind the rightmost assassin in turn clutched onto the hood of his robe and thrust his blade into his comrade.
That was the first Sith he had ever slain he could feel the passion build up inside him as he slipped into Juyo directing his emotion onto his enemy. He rolled narrowly missing a soaring lightsaber and with slice of his leg he took out his opponent’s feet. In his peripheral he saw Rath dueling masterfully against the other two Sith as he plunged his saber into the prone assassin’s esophagus. Tywin bounded to his old Master’s aid as a squad of Sith troopers crashed through a frontward hedge. Bolts soared through the air his blade became a blur shielding Tywin from trooper’s fire. As bolt after bolt struck his Master he watched Rath’s guard fall and in a time shorter than a moment but as long as an eternity Tywin watched the Sith sever the head of Master Rath Balmor, warrior, monk.
The Force blurted out any passage of time in the mind of the Jedi Knight as the pure emerald energy erupted from his fingertips and surged through the troopers leaving them smoldering upon the ground. Ronin propelled himself toward the Sith assassin one hand still engulfing his assailant in the emerald judgment of the Jedi Knight. The Sith dropped his saber and Tywin subsided his electric bombardment, but with a flick of his wrist he detached the hands of the fiend. “Tell your Master the Jedi Order lives,” declared the now Jedi Master. Master Tywin Thane permitted the filth to scurry away and retrieved his Master’s lightsaber. Little did either know that the Jedi Exile would destroy the Sith Triumvirate before the Sith Lord could receive his message.
That night he would burn the body of Jedi Master Rath Balmor, give farewells to his parents, and leave on the first shuttle to Coruscant.
He returned to the Jedi temple to find it utterly abandoned. For 6 months he meditated on the precise path to move forward, the Force answered him with the arrival of the Jedi Exile, Meetra Surik. She told him of her routing of the Sith Lords Sion, Nihilius, and Traya. Tywin believed that through her the Order would return to its former strength but the Force was leading her in a different path, Meetra had to find Revan she knew he would not abandon his family lightly. She refused his plea to accompany her, "The Jedi Order needs Jedi like you Tywin if it is to survive. I do not have hope in returning from where even Revan is lost," Meetra said glancing toward the ground, "This Temple needs foundations, you are tasked to find them Master Thane."
Tywin initiated the Jedi Beacon calling all Jedi back to Coruscant but the Force would be left to guide them. So for 5 years years slowly Jedi returned to the Temple, as he brought his dueling capabilities and command of the Force to new heights hunting down Sith when he could as he followed up on the whispers told of Jedi. He assembled a High Council from the greatest of the Order to survive the purge. Although not always the wisest or prudent, Master Tywin Thane represented the strength of the Jedi in this time of turmoil.
